UNISSUED TRIAL (B/4) – Mint (NG). Trial printing for the 1989 planned annual ‘Decade of Filipino Nationalism series of 50 stamps in mini size. This trial was printed to check that the size of the stamps and the sheet of 200, plus the perforations will work out ok. The design was taken from the US 2c definitive issue of 1975 which was printed in red-brown (unlike blue with this issue), where the country and value were removed. Minor toning. Very scarce and unusual. See page 162 in Ngo’s specialised catalogue, Volume 1.

Usage was ‘authorised’ from January 5, 1948.
