233.

NB1-NB3 – IMPERF B/4. Mint (NG). From discovery sheets of 200, with copy of 1990 letter from Gene Garrett to Rogelio de Jesus detailing this issue. Accompanied with a copy of PF Certificate for a similar imperf block of NB1 (for reference purposes only). NB1 with minor tone spots on top right stamp. NB2 shows under-printing of green colour from uneven ink distribution. NB3 with horizontal fold. Very scarce in Blocks. (Refer Garrett, pp 355-356). F-VF

NB: Feedback received after lot had been listed: “These are believed to be from a sheet of 600, and are considered as Proofs. These are from the discovery sheet, but because there were 6 sheets of 100 on the plate they could not get the ink to cover the whole plate evenly. They finally used only 2 sheets for the plate they used to print the stamps.”

NB4 – Unused. Kalayaan S/S signed by G E Tolentino, Filipino artist, sculpture and designer of the Kalayaan issue. Horizontal centre fold not detracting overall appearance. Scarce
